X Alternative Bluesky Faces Stormy Weather

Bluesky will fail for the same reason platforms like Gab and Parler failed. It is impossible to create a thriving platform where only one subsect of the population is represented

The left was in crisis following their electoral evisceration at the hands of Donald Trump, The public had definitively rebuked their toxic vision for the country, and they couldn’t even retreat to their Twitter echo chambers following Elon Musks takeover. Where were they to go?

The heavens opened and there was Bluesky. Though the site initially went independent in 2021, it didn’t truly take off until liberals needed a safe space to kvetch about the 2024 election. Millions of users flooded onto the platform, much to the joy of the site’s founders.

But that joy would be short-lived.

Within days of the user spike, Bluesky safety and moderation released a statement sheepishly admitting that user reports had skyrocketed, and that they were forced to triage reports containing harmful content. Some of that content was child sexual abuse material.

It’s a fairly damning admission that the second liberals came en masse to Bluesky, they brought vile and harmful material. Far from creating a haven away from the “evil Republican Nazis,” within days leftists had made something infinitely worse.

If you somehow manage to wade past all the disgusting kiddy porn, what you’ll find is Twitter before Elon Musk took over. A leftist censorship purity spiral where users scramble to report as many people for wrong think as they can.

Bluesky consists entirely of people complaining about how evil Republicans are and bragging to their echo chamber about how many MAGA "chuds" they've blocked.

Oftentimes this results in a circular firing squad where people who are lefties who are otherwise aligned on 99% of the issues will find their accounts

Case in point, journalist Jesse Singal had a vast majority of his posts blocked behind an "intolerance" filter. I don't always agree with Singal, but he's one of the finest journalists out there when it comes to covering the blatant politicization of science to cater towards transgender activists.

Singal is viewed as dangerous because the leftists infecting Bluesky view any form of disagreement, no matter how milquetoast, as violence. Singal is a left-wing mild critic of transgenderism and is therefore supporting the evil GOP in genocide and murdering.

Perhaps a better way of describing Bluesky is a kindergarten where toddlers, unable to view the world other than in simplistic black and white terms, plug their ears and cry foul when people disagree with them.

It is this refusal to allow dissenting viewpoints that will ensure Bluesky never reaches the same heights that X has.

As much as leftists complain that conservatives have totally conquered the platform, X still has a thriving and vibrant community of liberals on it. There are both sides of the aisle present on the site who both cater to their own audiences and occasionally interact with each other.

Ironically, X, a supposedly right wing hellscape, is a place full of funny memes and free speech from everyone from the right and left. If you don't want to see the other side, the block button is readily available.

By contrast, BlueSky, a leftist "utopia," immediately removes and censors anybody who doesn't adhere to the strict woke orthodoxy.

Slowly but surely, we will see those liberals who fled to Bluesky slink their way back to Twitter. I'll be laughing at them when they do.
