Trump is Right to Call Out Tesla Terrorism
The Tesla attacks are a targeted campaign meant to punish ideological enemies. It’s vile thuggery, and ironically paints them more like Nazi brownshirts than anything Trump and Musk could ever do.
On Tuesday, Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the rise in arson and vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles and dealerships over Elon Musk and DOGE.
“The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism,” Bondi said. “We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”
Bondi’s remarks mirrored President Trump’s, who also called the vandals domestic terrorists and vowed they would “go through hell.”
Throughout the country Tesla owners have returned to spraypainted swastikas or dog poop smeared on their cars in acts of protest. That is, if their cars weren’t torched outright.
Tesla dealerships have also faced acts of wanton destruction. The morning of Bondi’s announcement, a Tesla lot in Las Vegas was riddled with bullets and Molotov cocktails. Earlier this month, another dealership in Portland, Oregon, was shot up.
Some argued that labeling these acts “domestic terrorism” was a slippery slope to a police state, and that America herself was born in incidents of property destruction like in the Boston Tea Party. Instead of terrorism, they argue this is petty vandalism at worst and a glorious expression of the First Amendment right to protest at best.
To that end, anti-Musk activists created a website called Dogequest to facilitate "creative expressions of protest." Prior to its seeming deletion from the internet, the site posted the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of Tesla owners offering to remove them only if said owners provided proof they’d sold their car.
By definition, these activities constitute domestic terrorism which is defined by the FBI as “Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.”
Dogequest’s purpose was clear: expose Tesla owners’ personal information so they could be harassed by terrorists into submission. Burned-out cars, bullet-strewn dealerships, and public doxing all serve to enforce political conformity through fear.
The radical left has used this tactic before, most notably during the Black Lives Matter riots of summer 2020. The sight of shattered windows and burned-out buildings across the nation ensured businesses and politicians complied with sweeping racial policy changes out of fear they would become the next target.
It’s blatant, disgusting, and entirely antithetical to the American political system. But if there is one positive that arises from these incidents, it reveals how hollow the left’s claims around the climate friendly nature of electric vehicles are.
The Biden administration heavily penalized automakers producing gas-powered vehicles to foist an EV transition on the American public. Yet, less than two months into Trump 2.0, leftist Senator Mark Kelly boasted about trading his Tesla for a gas-guzzling Tahoe truck. A true climate warrior!
By the way, progressive darling AOC also drives a Tesla. I’m very interested to see if her car meets the same fate as the others or if leftist firebugs only target the little people with their violence.
Additionally, electric vehicles run on lithium batteries which produce toxic fumes when burnt and release dangerous chemicals into the groundwater when firefighters rush to put out the blaze. Not to mention those fires release chemicals into the air and it’s already environmentally dubious to produce a Tesla in the first place just to destroy it.
Turns out all the environmental bullshit was yet another ploy to force social change and that burning down Teslas is a good thing ackshully.
Thus, the terror campaign isn’t about the environment, the First Amendment, or even Elon Musk himself. It’s about power, plain and simple. The left is no longer in the driver’s seat and are violently lashing out to try and get that power back.
The Tesla attacks are a targeted campaign meant to punish ideological enemies. It’s vile thuggery, and ironically paints them more like Nazi brownshirts than anything Trump and Musk could possibly do.
The Trump administration is right to identify these terrorists for what they truly are. Time to bring down the hammer.
