The Longhouse Rears Its Ugly Head as Childless Cat Ladies Swoon for Harris
Welcome to the the end of feminism, welcome to the Longhouse.
Earlier this year, Democratic strategist James Carville identified why the party is hemorrhaging support from voters. “A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females” dominating the culture of his party,” Carville told the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. “The message is too feminine.”
Though Carville has probably never heard the phrase “Longhouse” in his life, he inadvertently described the managerial caste of scolding women that menace hard working Americans everywhere.
In a seminal 2023 article for First Things, author Lomez defines the Longhouse as “the remarkable overcorrection of the last two generations toward social norms centering feminine needs and feminine methods for controlling, directing, and modeling behavior.”
And once you’ve heard of it, it’s impossible not to see it everywhere. And with the rise of Kamala Harris as de facto Democratic party leader, it has exploded back onto the scene.
The recent White Woman for Harris video call that went viral on Twitter exemplified the Longhouse vernacular perfectly. A clip featuring TikTok star Arielle Fodor, known online as Miss Frazzle, featured Fodor speaking with the gathered audience in a “gentle parenting” voice that would be at home both in a kindergarten classroom and an HR struggle session.
“As white women we need to use our privilege to make positive changes,” Fodor began. “If you find yourself talking over or speaking for BIPOC individuals or, God forbid, correcting them, just take a beat. And instead we can put our listening ears on.”
The saccharine delivery, the use of liberal newspeak like BIPOC, and the infantilization of the audience by using the phrase “listening ears.” Not to mention the infantilization of minorities by treating them as sacred objects never to be corrected or contradicted. The American Longhouse par excellence.
In his First Things article, Lomez also highlighted the use of feminine methods of controlling behavior as a consequence of dominant Longhouse politics.
The Harris campaign’s new strategy of calling Donald Trump and J.D. Vance “weird” plays into this feminine attack pattern. Attacks on Trump and Vance as harbingers of fascism have failed, so the campaign and allies are resorting to “Mean Girls” style shame tactics.
The irony of course being that the party that routinely celebrates the degenerate, surreal, bizarre, and of course, weird, is not the GOP.
And who are the male standard bearers of the Harris campaign? Weak, effete men more concerned with getting the approval of their feminist betters than having a spine.
Contrasted with the sickeningly sweet White Women for Harris call, the White Dudes for Harris alternative was almost more pathetic.
While the call was full of great moments, from a milquetoast condemnation of masculinity that attacks “trans women and the LGBTQIA+ community” to Pete Buttigeig alleging that men are more free when women can openly murder their babies through abortion, one moment that stood out was from actor Josh Gad, who recounted his reaction to Trump’s upset victory in 2016.
“I stood over my kid’s bed and I wept,” Gad somberly moaned. “I wept because I felt like I let them down. I wept because we had the chance to have a female president for the first time in our lives and in the history of this nation.”
It was Gad’s disgusting obeisance to the almighty female. It was his mea culpa because Hillary Clinton, a shitty candidate who ran a shitty campaign, lost to the Orange Man. It was the idea that we needed a President with a vagina for… reasons? It was everything wrong with the liberal man, so lame, so pudgy.
Gad’s clip coalesced everything wrong with a man who has imbibed the values of the Longhouse, and why they elicit such a visceral disgust from average Americans. And it reminded me of something else.
During Barack Obama’s second term, he released an ad for Obamacare featuring the so-called Pajama Boy. Rich Lowry eviscerated the campaign in a 2013 Politico article where he wrote “Pajama Boy is about as threatening as Michael Cera and so nerdy he could guest-host on an unwatched MSNBC show. He is probably reading The Bell Jar and looking forward to a hearty Christmas meal of stuffed tofurkey.”
Pajama Boy walked so Josh Gad could cry over his child’s bed.
Democrats truly believe that a Longhouse style society is best. A society where Miss Frazzle tells you to put your listening ears on while black people speak, or thinking that the endless parade of open degeneracy on display is “weird” or sobbing over the loss of a candidate just because she’s a woman is celebrated.
The Longhouse will expand up to November, when hopefully we can tear it down log by log.
