Rural Wi-Fi Fiasco, Gaza Pier, Are Perfect Analogies for the Biden Presidency
Joe Biden's presidency in a word: failure.
Biden has been having a rough week. The President is facing heat over a failure to deliver on part of his signature Build Back Better plan involving rural broadband access. Despite shoveling $42.5 billion dollars into the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment scheme to connect rural Americans to high-speed internet, not one home or business has actually been connected.
Maddeningly, the government doesn’t anticipate moving forward with the project until next year at the earliest, marking nearly half a decade between when the project was announced and when it moves forward.
This massive delay is entirely the fault of the Biden administration, who tied the funding to onerous requirements including forcing firms to hire unionized workers, utilize workers with criminal records, and account for climate change when building the infrastructure.
And just one month after his much touted $230 million pier in Gaza was finished, outlets like The New York Times are reporting it will end operations weeks earlier than planned as it has largely failed to accomplish its goals.
From the Times, “the pier has been in service only about 10 days. The rest of the time, it was being repaired after rough seas broke it apart, detached to avoid further damage or paused because of security concerns.”
Well done!
It is these two policy failures that illustrate better than anything else how much of a fiasco Biden’s presidency has been.
The rural broadband issue is a perfect example of how Biden has failed to help the Americans he promised to with his Build Back Better plan. Indeed, lower and middle class Americans are worse off now than they were when he took office 4 years ago.
On every front, Biden has failed. The president claims he created more jobs than his predecessor. But as Heritage Foundation economist E.J. Antoni points out, when examining the state of the job market and the economy more holistically, “over 500,000 jobs that were supposedly added to the economy in the last quarter of 2023 never even existed.”
And all those infrastructure projects Biden keeps blabbing about? Stymied by the same woke nonsense as the rural broadband disaster. Want to improve your airport? Gotta prove you’ll work to improve racial equity. How about boosting rural electrical grids? Gonna need you to focus on DEI first.
Pointless woke posturing creating barriers to helping people. It’s the Biden way!
On the foreign policy front, Biden has wasted inordinate amounts of taxpayer money with nothing to show for it and potentially endangered the lives of ordinary Americans. Despite having sent $175 billion to Ukraine, Kiev is no closer to defeating the Russians and is quickly descending into tyranny. And what did Biden do? He authorized Ukraine to use American weaponry to strike targets in Russia, raising the risk Putin would retaliate against the U.S.
Expensive, shoddily planned, dangerous. The three pillars of Biden’s foreign policy.
Looking back at Biden’s first term, it’s easy to note the common thread of incompetency running through it. For all the talk of the adults being back in charge, it sure seems like children are running the show much to the detriment of the American people.
It is almost certain Biden will display even more stupidity before November mercifully gives America the chance to boot him from office. But as the news cycle blows past this duo of stories, Americans should keep them in mind. From the moronic to the dangerous, Biden’s presidency has run the worst gamut possible.
Hopefully this message reaches the masses. Maybe if we could get some Wi-Fi…
